The July issue of trailer life (I'm a little behind in my reading) had an article on these and I realized I didn't know as much about them as I thought I did. If you own one its a good read.

Thanks Craig interesting article.
The most important take away
is the leveling.I try to get the truck
as level as possible. Most times it's close.
They can be a great piece of equipment
if used properly.

Agreed, I learned the leveling problem pretty quick as I'm sure most of us do with a truck camper in remote places. Mine turned into an oven it seemed at the time. From the looks of that article it could've caused permanent damage, but it runs well now and is generally too cold even on the lowest setting.
The freezing temperatures problem was new though and I had planned to do some winter camping this year so I'll have to keep that in mind.

I have used a 5th wheel trailer as a ski chalet for the past 30 years and I have found that my absorption fridge stops working properly at around 0*F/-18*C. I then block off the lower fridge vent and the fridge starts working. A light bulb in the back of the fridge also works.
