As I think about this tree coming down I realize that it is the small things that bring meaning to my life. I have been driving by this tree for nearly half of its life. I will miss it. Thanks for posting this.

This is an example of loving something to death.
Too many people walking around under the tree.
That's why our other groves have walkways mostly.
Sad.

What a shame. It always made us smile as we passed by during the holidays.

I expect it would not be another Sequoia in the dry Owens Valley. I hope something nice comes to the top on what to do with planning.

It's amazing it lasted this long in an non native area.
Sequoia's are pretty fussy.

Interesting story. I did not know about this tree even though I’ve been to Big Pine so many times over the past 50 years or more. Family and relatives always camped at Taboose Creek.

Awe, now how am I going to know where to turn off 395 to go to Death Valley? That's always been my landmark to turn, when I'm not paying attention. That's too bad.
