Rob, buy/use ghee if you want to avoid the mess, and if you will use clarified butter often. Yup, them spuds look good.

Gher is clarified butter, doesn’t require refrigeration (IIRC) because the milk solids are gone, but pricy. I’ve seen it in Costco.

If you want to buy only a small amount of ghee at Costco, buy the 55 gallon drum size.

I actually do have a Costco act. but because of where I live it is not offered.... we live in a very coop minded area and I am sure I will be able to find it locally. If it is made from a hydrogenated oil.. I'll pass. For the last 40 years I "make' my own mix for daily use... 3 sticks of real butter and 1 cup rapeseed oil in a blender at room temperature. goes into a stone crock ...Forms into a spreadable butter that is either thought of as "now I can eat twice as much" or "It's only half as bad for you"....
My cast-iron skillet really liked that clarified butter.

A follow on to Rob’s post. Ghee is just clarified butter.
For those of us that do not have a convenient way to get to Costco, they do have online ordering for most non perishable items. Orders of $75 and above ship free. We use them for bulk items like coffee beans, Basmati rice, organic canned tomatoes, etc.
