Cooler oceans would probably work better along with returning ice cover to the arctic.

Thin layer of wet slop this morning. 2.5 inches on the deck. We just scraped everything clear on the driveways and road by hand this morning. We've got French Onion soup in the crock pot and sourdough bread in the oven. :)

What should we do with the rest of our day?

RE: Climate normal post. In the northern Rockies, the last time they did this, the "new normal" for snow pack was reduced around 5 - 10% for the new normal from the previous normal. Also, we have been using shorter time periods for running our fire danger and fire behavior models since the longer time periods do skew the weather and wind downward and do not reflect the last few years. One problem is that in many areas the number of fires has declined - but getting larger - so the statistics that the models need for # of fires is not good. Looking at some of the maps for where over the last thirty years or so for areas in the west that have gotten warmer and drier and warmer and wetter match up reasonably well with a climate model that Steve Running developed back in the 90's.

Lucky, lucky you, Mr. Sage. We are getting an awful streak of warm clear weather down here. Diesel up!

Massive sun here. Temps very nice.

Went out for an ocean walk yesterday at our Pt. Lobos SP.

The Monterey Bay was full of large white caps.Very strong winds.

Spring is right around the corner.
