I found a very small leak in my 2nd fuel tank, which is mounted above my spare tire.  Fuel has been slowly leaking for days, maybe a couple weeks, onto my spare tire.  The tread is quite soft and swollen in the area.
I patched the tank today.
I don't expect to need the tire any time soon (although you never 'expect' to need it).  Is it likely to dry out and shrink back down over time?  And is it compromised?  I could see being soft it would wear faster.  I could see if it dries out, maybe having lost some additives that were in the rubber and might get hard and brittle.  But, I don't have any experience w/ anything like this, so I'm just guessing, which could be bad with something as critical as a spare tire.

It's an unused BFGoodrich T/A KO2.

Thanks for any advice.

Here’s a tiny bit of information from Tire Rack.  I suggest taking it in and having it inspected by a tire shop you trust.
