I have a  1989 Palomino Mini -L that My wife and I used to overland from Eastern Canad to Panama to Alaska and home again.   It owes us nothing.   We would like to make the bed larger as it is only 42" and I think the Heco -lift is standing in my way.   I am looking for adice - has anybody ever replaced a Heco -lift with something else?  I am imagining that maybe a hinge system (a la FWC) and gas struts might work.  Any advice is appreciated!  Thanks!

First welcome to the forum!

I have replaced the lift panels on me FWC Eagle with homemade EMT conduit lift panels. Those plus struts work really well.

There is a link to a useful thread:

Thanks for the welcome!

Thanks for the direction.    One of the challenges is that the door in the Mini L is a full door, so the rear of the camper cannot have  a central hinge lift.
