What's the next best truck besides a 1st Gen Tundra for a fairly light pop up camper?  I need a similar size mountain truck (not a ranch truck), that's well built and will easily go 250k miles or more. In Colorado, it's getting to the point that used older Tundras are ridiculously expensive. Something not too big for use on narrow 4X4 roads, mountain passes... (a Tacoma is a tad too small) My budget is maxed at around 12-14k

Chevy 1500/2500?

Dodge?

Ford?

Nissan Titan?

My son moved his FWC Hawk from 1st gen Tundra to 2011 2nd gen Tundra. No problem with fit, loves it! No problem going to over 200K miles. I have a 2013 Tundra with Hallmark Milner and it handles it well. Love performance, not thrilled by gas mileage.

The new Tacomas are nearly as big as the T100/1gen Tundra except for the bed which is a shame. I wish they'd make an extended cab with a 6.5' bed. If I were to lose my truck, I'd get a 2nd generation Tundra. I'd miss the manual transmission and simplicity of the older trucks though. That model has been out since 2007 and close to your budget. The thought of spending upwards of 40k on a truck to haul my camper doesn't make sense to me.

Obviously people love their Toyotas for good reasons, but they are so expensive used..

I think most well cared modern trucks will get over 200k with limited issues..

F150 supercab 6.5 bed with 5.0 motor.. thats my pick, have had 3 different ones and perfect reliability for me..

I've been happy with my 2010 Tundra. Bought it new and it now has a little over 202,000 miles with minimal issues. Gas mileage could be better, but performance and reliability are great. A tighter turning radius was one of the better updates to the 2nd generation Tundras.

I haven't been in the market for a truck for years but just took a look at prices. Holy cow, $25,000 for a 2008 Tundra with 80,000 miles on it. That's only $3000 less than I paid for mine new. Good luck with your search, the ones I see in your price range already have over 250,000 miles.
