Ok we travel north all the time. Flys mosquito ect. What will I run into in mojave an death valley??

If you are very fortunate you will find a tarantula. Not many flies, but a few, especially where people congregate. Occasionally a stink beetle (inch long, black, points its' butt up at you.) If you carry a UV flashlight, you can have fun spotting scorpions in the dark. Not common, though.

the UV flashlight is amazing for scorpions.  i slept on a cot for 19 days in the grand canyon, and felt pretty comfortable. would not have wanted to sleep on ground.  i learned on that trip, to always shake your shoes/boots out, before putting on.
