200X Flippac modified to fit 3rd gen Tacoma

Selling our Flippac that has served us well for many years, sorry to see it go but we are upgrading to a FWC. Everything is still in pretty good shape, including the canvas and the rain fly. We have not replaced the torsion bar or hinges, this might be something a buyer wants to consider. We are really gentle when we open it and I think that has extended its life. Some of the screens have degraded and need to be replaced. We replaced one by hand sewing, as it seemed like a ton of work to remove the whole tent, but it can be done. Also included is an ARB awning that is in good shape.

Originally this Flippac was built for a 2nd gen Tacoma, so we have had to modify it a bit to fit on our 3rd gen. In order to make the hatch fit with the 3rd gen tailgate, it needed to be trimmed down a bit. We also had to cut a notch out of the shark fin on the truck.

I built some cabinets in the back that I’ll include, or not. These were an attempt to organize our bikes and gear. I am not the greatest carpenter, but they’re functional. It is possible to fit two mountain bikes in the back with fork mounts.

These seem to be getting rarer by the year and is a cheaper alternative to some of the new wedge campers and just as functional. Available April 19th.

$3500

FAQ’s

Will it fit on my truck? It will fit well on 1st, 2nd, or 3rd gen Tacomas, not sure about other midsize trucks. Originally we had this on our 1st gen, but bought it from someone who had it on a 2nd gen. On the 1st gen, we had to add a half inch spacer around the bed rails so it would fit over the cab. The subsequent Tacoma generations fit without the spacer due to the higher beltline.

Have you replaced the torsion bar? No. But it is possible to replace it with one of these: https://swayaway.com/product/flip-pac-torsion-bar/

Sway-a-way also makes replacement hinges.

How much did this affect your MPG? 1-2mpg

How much does it weigh? About 400lbs give or take a 100lbs

Where are you located? Pacific Northwest. Happy to meet someone part way. We’ll be in Moab around April 15th if that works for someone. I either need to sell or remove and store it by 4/29.

Where in the PNW are you? If you're in BC, I'd be happy to make a deal with you. Cheers.
