Okay, I didn't see a similar thread, so here goes.  I am (along with many of us) about to buy my first truck camper. I've backpacked, I've car camped, and I've RV'ed (as a kid). But this foray into truck camping (particularly the poptop world), is new. So, we are calling on the wizened ones to help us:

1. What do we need to do/buy before pickup day? I'm assuming turnbuckles and tiedown thingmabobs, but what else?

2. What should we focus on for first stocking of said campers?

3. What should we AVOID buying? Also known as...what's the stuff you've bought but never used?

I know some will vary depending upon the type of camper and types of camping, so feel free to add those items into your narrative...but I gotta think there are some very common themes we can rely upon.

TIA

Although 5 years or so old, this is a good thread. https://www.wanderth...ck-in-your-fwc/

Techie Techie,welcome to the site.

There is a lot of info here on this site.

One rule of thumb about "stuff",for the most

part there are stores out there so you only need

to bring the essentials from home. That's mainly food things.

Over the times you use your rig you will figure out what is needed.

If you are getting a new camper the builder FWC/ATC will have all the parts

necessary to install your new camper. If buying used check with the seller or

get info from the camper builder as to what's needed for install.

Enjoy
