This time in Jail Canyon.

In March we were headed out of Hanaupah Canyon and gave our extra water to a backpacker who was worried about running short with the prospect of spring water contamination from a recent illegal grow near the springs.   He was headed to Telescope Peak but would have a long way to get to snow for a water supply.

I have read on the internet the authorities do not usually give a priority to apprehend and charge grow operators.  If that is true I wonder if they would respond the same if it was another crop like say, lavender?  Maybe it is a California thing.

Anyway, it is sad to see this activity going on our more protected public lands.

Pot is legal in California under state law, but illegal under federal law so the logical place to grow it is on federal park land?  Somehow my head hurts after thinking about that.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Drug Cartels no doubt! They drop illegals into remote places and threaten their relatives to coerce them to grow. Sad! Strange place to grow, however because of the warmth in that region allows them to grow in the Winter/Spring.

Dang. Never would have thought of in NP. Have seen remnants in N forest and timber company land. In fact one of fears when riding to dead ends on forest land when close to big city. But in NP? And such little precious water....
