I learned about these a few years ago when I saw a restored one along I-40, west of Albuquerque, what a neat and wild way to navigate by air. Thanks for the writeup and sharing!

Ski, Fascinating topic. When post previously on these beacons, I thoroughly enjoyed the posts. This post blew me away. What fun to trace back aviation history. I will be rereading this post many times. Thanks for sharing. JD

Beaver Marsh Beacon2

Oh Ski what did you start.  :)  it was bad enough that we used to seek out tiny airports, now we look for tiny airports with beacons!
While driving back up from Klamath Falls on 97 a few miles short of Chemult is a dirt airstrip with a beacon. Looked it up later and seems to be one of the Airway beacons with the gen shed still there. The airport shows up (2S2) on nav maps as Beaver Marsh State airport (now privately owned).  Could this be part of a route along US 97.
