Starting today - June 15 - in the Lake Tahoe Basin NO CAMPFIRES even in established campgrounds. See attached pdf file.

LTBMU goes into Fire Restrictions…

No campfires, even in designated campgrounds!

Portable gas appliances with a shut-off valve are permitted with a California Campfire Permit.

At beaches, campgrounds and resorts named in the press release, gas appliances with a shut off valve are okay without a CA Campfire Permit.

There's a reason for restrictions.  Unfortunately, many people are irresponsible with their campfires and the results can be devastating resulting in loss of life and in Ken Sleight's (Seldom Seen) case, a lifetime of work and memorabilia.

Hopefully this will sink in and be observed.

It also needs to be in force in most of the NF's

I agree... agencies all over the west need to be following this example. We're just back from a four week trip to Montana and the general public's cluelessness regarding fire safety and management was evident.
