With the Dixie fire reaching Janesville which I never believed could happen I won't even hazard a guess where the Caldor Fire will wind up. I know my friends south of the fire didn't sleep last night.

Watching the Dixie fire hit Antelope Lake, an area I know well , I'm surprised by how little the fire is slowed by the old burn scars. Last years Walker burn does seem to be slowing the fire in that area but not the older burns.

I have a shirttail relative in Janesville, I hope he’s OK.

Hey-join the fun Ski!  Well  3 (36/44/395) of the 4 highways into Susanville have been cut by the  Dixe fire(600,000 ac).  They expect high winds today and we are in a Red Flag warning. They say that today will be the worst day so far and everyone should be  on alert.  Fire is a few miles away to the west and cut hw 395 near the rest stop just east of Janesville ( on evac warning); we are not on an evac warning here in Susanville proper but we are ready. The truck is packed and only have to catch cat and pack up the lap top and I'm gone if it comes to that(probably north to Eagle Lake area if I have to leave). Down town looks like a war zone with evacs, everywhere  and all the new fire folks  and new law enforcement types coming in. Now that the cogen plant is back on line we have power here and all we can do is wait.  lot's of fire folks here so that is  a big plus. Our fire crews know their stuff and we are safe for now . This all sounds so like last year and is getting tiresome but what can one do anyway?  again unlike allot of folks I still have my house

Talk later

Glad you're prepared to Evac Smoke. This fire can go anywhere it wants :(

I didn't want to say the Caldor fire might threaten Pollock Pines. I considered that a possibility down the road, not evac warnings already issued. I could see the plume from the dog park near my place. Not a good sign seeing that from here. The wind is picking up here and the smoke is increasing. Going to go put the hitch back on and fuel up the truck just in case anyone needs help getting stuff out.

As of 1300hrs, most of our area is mandatory evacuation. We were out by 1015hrs and are safe. Evacuation routes and highway 50 are crawling bumper to bumper.
