We took a short trip into the Cascades this past weekend for a quick truck camp on Friday and a backpack trip Saturday into the Diamond Peaks wilderness.  Now that temperatures and smoke have moderated it was a great weekend to escape to the mountains.  Our write up is located on our website, and we also put together a video which is a medium I haven't done much with up to now, but we may do more of in the future, just for something different to experiment with.

You can find it all here: https://www.occident...g/diamond-view/

Fall is in the air! It is great to have clear skies again and much less of a challenge to breathe. We both enjoy your very well done trip reports and always look forward to another edition. Thanks for letting us come along! :)

Thanks for the comment and yes, we have skied and snowshoed in the wilderness a bit the past couple years - not for an overnight - and found it really enjoyable and much less crowded than areas closer to Bend.

Oh my are we enjoying the fresh air after our last backpack trip in the smoke! Sometimes you don't appreciate being able to breathe and see the landscape until you can't anymore! Thanks for the comment.

Yes, the area around Lakeview really experienced a lot of fire this year. Luckily the Warners were spared, but I'm sure the smoke would have been unberable for much of the summer. On to fall and clear skies!
