I guess I had hoped that HH would be okay... for what it is a one 8 hour stay en route to somewhere else.... and happily I would get to buy a hunk of cheese or a bottle of wine ...apples too. My Eagle has a mounted porta-potty ... grey water ...we took the sink out so there is no way to make grey water other than boiling water and I could hookup a 3 gallon for show... We are hyper conscious of leave no trace so I feel we would be fine. Just having a possible place to stay as insurance is worth it if we use it 4 times in a year.,

Thanks for starting this thread as I have wondered about the HH option. Some friends with a luxury van endorse and use them frequently but we were under the impression that many (most?) do not have toilet facilities so your rig must be self-contained for those, um, functions. Is that what others have seen?
Yup, you need to be self contained. Even if your "Bathroom" is no more than a pee-bottle and/or bucket for "those" functions.

On a side note, you don't save any money using HH. Or at least we didn't. We bought enough wine and alpaca wool garments that our two stays cost way more than I have ever paid for a campsite.

Buckland there is another group similar to HH called Boondockers Welcome.
We have been a host for over 3 years and met many interesting people along the way. Most of our guests are snowbirds going from the Northeast to Florida and back. There is a wider variety of places to stay through this site and many are very nice although there are some that I would not stay at.
Here is our site located at my former shop in VA. If you ever find yourself in need of a place to stay I would be more than happy to host you.

BTW, Boondockers Welcome was recently bought out by HH and they are trying to integrate the two but are having some issues…

Buckland the link worked for me..
Try their main page here:
https://www.boondock...om/searchhosts/
Then you can search for my place named “Lost Mountain Retreat”.

Thanks ... I believe it works for you because it went to your member page (which others can't access ...IP based)
I did go to the Boondocks site as well but as I am not a member it won't allow me to search for locations.
I'll search you on another mapping program

Hey Smlobx
When you say HH and Boondockers are merging.....does that mean both will be available to HH members ?
Thanks

And as a HH member, do I get access the the Boondockers site? Or have the resources already merged?
Edit: To answer my own questions, if you are already a member at HH and go to login at Boondockers, it takes you to HH. So, they have merged!
