Thanks everyone. Going to give it another try today with all your encouragement and likely attempt to remove some of the bed liner where the rear inboard bed extensions where the tailgate is removed. This is the spot we can’t get it clear. According to fwc there is a difference in the front dinette vs other layouts and I haven’t been able to find anyone with front dinette and our truck yet to confirm theirs fit. Fingers crossed.

Let us know how it goes.   That liner does look much thicker than my Tundra which has Line-X.

FWC specs...shows either dinette style has the same camper width and length ...  80" [outside] x 80".... perhaps I am misinterpreting something?

I have a 2013 on a 05 tundra. The screws that hold the corner trim have shaved off the bed liner on the vertical sides. Good news is it won’t shift when on bumpy roads.

I sold a Hawk to someone years ago and helped him load it onto his Gen 1 Tundra. We had the same problem where it needed a half inch clearance between the bed rails. We basically pulled back on the bed from the top rails and gained the clearance we needed to slip the camper on. Good luck!!

I asked around in the shop for advice.

 

They said you would need to grind off most of the spray-on bed liner in the tail gate opening area.

 

This will give you the needed clearance.

 

Worst case, you might also need to remove a few of the trim screws or the 2 small bolts for the battery straps (rear / driver's side area).

I have a 2018 shell with side dinette on a 2006 Tundra DC with a bed mat but no bed liner...about 1/4 inch clearance on both sides.
