Hello, I'm getting my FWC Swift shell installed first week of December (hopefully) and I'm going with the Firestone airbags and daystar cradles in the back. My plan originally was to have the shop that is doing the FWC install also install the airbags, they tell me they do it all the time and no problem. The issue is I keep asking for a quote on the airbags, cradle, and install and they aren't being responsive. So I have confidence they can do the install, but I'm not very confident they will have it together enough to get the timing right of having the airbags/cradle in at the same time as the camper install. The FWC dealer I'm going through is a couple hours away and I don't want to go back and forth. So my plan is shifting to I buy the airbags/cradle to bring with me for them to install (or I install if it's easy enough). 

 

So my question here is for the folks with a Nissan Frontier, what airbag kit and daystar cradle did you order? I have the airbag kit I found below and I'm hoping to confirm that is the right kit. If anyone has a better place to order the air bags from let me know as well. I'm not finding any daystar cradles for the Frontier, I'm finding them for other vehicles but not the Frontier. So any help there would be super appreciated.

Thanks a ton for that, I did a bit of searching and these fit on the 2018 as well. I now have them in my cart and I'm trying to track down the daystar cradle for it now.

I would make sure that if you plan to have FWC do the instal that they are ok with you providing the parts. I have had issues with some service places only installing parts that they have provided. I think it has something to do with their warranty.

I've had really good luck with eTrailer.com for buying parts. Really good customer service and fast shipping. Plus they are about $100 cheaper than the Realtruck price.

Furthermore, this is a 100% bolt on kit. I've installed Firestone kits on 4 vehicles now and it is very straightforward. They only use the same 9/16 (fastener head) bolts/nuts so you really only need a 9/16 socket and/or wrench. You should be able to do this in a parking lot in about an hour max. Just keep that in mind if the shop tells you $1000 in labor.

On my ‘02 Tacoma 4X4 V6 — I carry a Six-Pac cabover hard sided camper — which would weigh a bit more than your FWC.
 
The dealer installed Airlift bags and a remote compressor on the rear when I bought the camper new back in 2002.
 
When I got it back, I then installed an extra 1-Ton leaf spring.
 
Still wasn’t fully satisfied with the performance — so I then installed strong front coils and HD shocks front & rear.
 
Then, after a few trips (and not fully satisfied with the amount of sway) — I switched out the factory BF Goodrich’s for 10-ply Michelin AT2 mud & snow.
 
The tires made all of the difference — along with the other mods.  Because they would take 80 lbs of air pressure (usually run 60 with the camper on) — and there was no sidewall sway due to the extra steel ply’s in the sidewalls.
