I don't like how the socket extends back into cabinet or whatever you are mounting it to - and then the +/- terminals also extend outwards, so when you attach wires the whole thing is protruding a couple inches into your cabinet.  i went to a lot of trouble building some shelves/cabinets, and they i have to worry about sliding in tray or duffel, and have to worry about bumping the socket/wires !!

at the very least, it would be nice if the terminals were turned 90 degrees

i am not too keen on the cigarette style, as i dont trust that the USB charger will stay, or will get bumped, etc.

anyway, i have done some looking, but not having any luck.  bought a couple blue sea usb socket mount, but it extends inward as far as other types.

any suggestions would be appreciated.

thx

greg

I use a cigarette lighter plug with a pigtail: https://www.amazon.c.../dp/B083S57WY4. Depending on the quality of the socket and plug, the friction fit might be good enough to stay connected. Products vary so much it's hard to tell what will work.

I also use variations of "12 v to USB pigtails" similar to:  https://www.amazon.c.../dp/B07H6W1BZG/ and https://www.amazon.c.../dp/B08RYJ8QK2/

In both cases, the pigtail setup only needs a small hole in a cabinet to run the wire through. Variations on this theme might get you closer to what you want.
