I'm fairly sure the Truckfridge is just a rebranded indel b and not a "secondary" model. Either way I've been very happy with mine. Freezer keeps stuff frozen, fridge maintains a very consistent temp regardless of outside temps.

Andrew...I have a Dometic that needed service/parts and found that there is virtually no customer service available in the USA. After a lengthy search I was advised to contact a local RV service center which had no experience with this type of unit. This was two years ago so perhaps it has improved. I ended up ordering a control board from an outfit in Australia and replacing it myself.

Richard,

Out of curiosity, since I have not needed any Dometic customer service for our refrigerator, did Dometic not respond or were they unable to offer any service center or part replacement direct purchase options to help remedy whatever issue you had?

I checked my Dometic Refrigerator product info as well as online and I see that Dometic has both and 800 phone number and an email address for USA customer service.

Craig...there was no response from them via email so I called and spoke with a very nice lady in the Midwest; she had little to no info on the portable units and suggested I call one of their "service centers". The closest center to me was really just an RV repair shop which had no experience with the portable units. Additionally, nobody domestically could sell me the upper control board that I needed, I found that through a small company in Broome. "I suspect" that when Dometic consolidated Waeco (all Dometic portable fridges were originally branded Waeco) under their corporate umbrella something was lost in the transition. Now that Dometic owns Front Runner it would be interesting to see if access/service to products with an "overlanding" flavor improves...my experience with FR has always been excellent.

Addendum: the Australian company that supplied me with the part I needed is Allvolts Power Solutions Pty Ltd. and can be found at allvolts.com.au

Since this has turned to include discussion on repair, I hope that my experience may be helpful. We use a 51 liter truckfridge chest refrigerator. And, for what it's worth, I tend to be "handy" with fixing things. The last issue I had with the refrigerator - I documented the repair here on WTW - I called the truckfridge tech support number. The person answered the phone with, "Indel B". I described the issue, the tech diagnosed the problem, and they had the repair part in stock. I received it in a few days and completed the repair. I was/am very pleased. The fridge continues to work.

It's good to hear about tech support for an Indel B chest unit. My Indel TB-41A has served me well for the past eight years.

I'm surprised to read that Dometic does not have a US tech support phone number - seeing as they usually have reps manning booths at most overland outdoor expos.

Tacoma Austin

I found the following service support phone number and contact info for the US (note there is an online form at the website link below that they ask be submitted).

RV PRODUCTS

End Consumer Product Support - Phone: 1-800-544-4881
E-Mail - customersupportcenter@dometic.com
End Consumer Online Order Support – email: customersupport@dometic.com

I have not needed any service or support so I cannot comment on it.

MightyDodgeRam,

I am pretty sure Dometic made refrigerators under the Dometic name beginning in Australia over 30 years ago.  I don't recall when they became available in the US.  I think they were originally rebranded Waeco refrigerators until Dometic bought Waeco in about 2007.

I hope this information is useful.
