At the end of Granite Creek Road off of highway 189 is Granite Hot Springs - 43° 22.188'N 110° 26.754'W

It is an open outdoor swimming pool with a fee to use. There is a small USFS campground a short distance down the road - before you reach the springs. There are dispersed sites along the river between 189 and the springs. Below the springs is a large waterfall. At the base of the falls is a primitive hot springs pool, but you need to wade the river to reach it. Care MUST be taken, especially early summer.

Thanks Ski! Should I expect crowds at the primitive pool in mid June?

You might also put Great Basin National Park on your list, it's near Baker, NV.

Has anyone Camped at Big Den (BLM) in NV off the 50? We are looking to drive around 7 hours or so the first day. Big Den fits the bill and look primitive and beautiful.

We've been there in July & August. I'd say mildly busy but not crowded.

The story of our first visit is in the second half of this trip story -

We did some rainy day mapping with our friends yesterday and have a general plan now. Turns out we will also be visiting friends in Moab along the way!

1st stop will be at Big Den CG in NV

2nd- Great Basin NP

3rd-  Moab UT

4th-  Kamas UT

5th- Granite Hot Springs WY (hoping to avoid camp Bubba!)

6th- Grand Teton NP

7th- Yellowstone NP

That is the plan, but we are all open to shifting and adjusting as we go. We will branch off from our friends in Yellowstone, and then make our way back shooting over and down through Idaho. then we will wing it all the way back to CA. Super excited as none of us in the group have ever been to Yellowstone!
