Hmmm, sounds a lot like what Hallmark has been doing on their campers for several years now. I am sure they are different products but my Milner LX has sandwich composite walls. one of the things I really like about it is the smooth exterior finish, no aluminum siding and it is so easy to keep clean.

Actually the XPCamper is very different form a Hallmark.
The XPCamper is a true all composite camper. A seamless build that uses no wood products. The interior uses molds for consistency and weight reduction. I: E Cabinets; rear seat and storage compartment; galley and shower/toilet cabinet.

There is no internal or external metal frame work used as it is the 1st true monocoque design/build in a pop up truck camper.
The XPCamper lends itself to the yacht building industry where composites and molds are used to save weight while allowing superior strength properties; which also achieves a seamless structure which is not possible by using composite panel construction.

By using a foam core; the insulation is already built in place achieving additional weight savings since no other materials are needed. This is one of the advantages by using a foam core over a balsa core; yet more costly to build.
However; when the camper comes out of the mold it is basically a finished unit.

You can read about the construction method here

The whole rear seat section weighs less than 30lbs!!

You can see the access to the under seat storage area.
Even the seat has a mold for the perfect fit.
It could also double as an ice cooler.

When the camper is being lowered an internal bungee system retracts the three sides that then rests on the over head bed.

The part that is confusing me though is where the soft sides contact the hard sides. The soft sides need to fold inwards but the hard side of the camper slides vertically downward below the level of the bed where the soft side is folding into.

2003 Dodge 1500 quad cab 4x4 5.7L Hemi auto w/ ride rite air springs and 1999(2000?) Hawk

2007 Dodge 2500 quad cab 4x4 5.7L Hemi auto and slowly progressing build.

FYI: I've got a bunch of extra 14ga wire in red and black. Its a thick jacket 41strand wire (likely MTW wire) verse typical 19strand automotive wire. It has good flexibility but factor in the thick jacket. I'll ship out 100' coils for $18 (I can go 50' of ea for that too) if anyone is in need of wire.
