I upgraded from my '96 F-150 to a new 2011 F-250. Boy, what a difference in ride! My loaded Hawk weighs almost 1500 pounds (so much for the advertised weight of 740 pounds) so the old truck was over the GVWR by the time my wife and I got in it. My F-250 is a SuperCab with a 6 3/4 foot bed and the 6.2 gas engine. I didn't get the diesel as I figure I can buy a lot of gas for the $7,000 difference. Didn't get the 4x4 for the same reason, but did get the electronic locking rear axle (poor man's 4x4). I have about 4,000 miles on it by now and am getting 13.5-14 MPG driving 60-65 MPH. Plenty of power and a real smooth ride. I'm really glad I got the F-250 and would strongly recommend one for anyone who has a loaded Hawk.

Just took my "maiden" trip with my Hawk, driving a '99 F250 CC 4x4 w 7.3L Powerstroke on 265x75R16 Yokohamas. There is a 4" gap between cab and cabover that I havent adjusted yet but 3303 mile round trip from Co Springs, CO to Magnolia, Ky to Omaha, Nb to Keystone, SD and home used 210.934 gallons at freeway speeds (65-80 on cruise) averaged 15.66 mpg :) Thats with all the crap for 1 adult, 3 kids (8, 10, 11) 2 small dogs, 1 bearded dragon. Have not had my rig weighted yet, but know she's heavy. Pics will come after I dl and pick the best ones.
