The North Rim is very pretty and less crowded. At 7000ft it is cooler with a shorter season (closed due to snow in the winter). But, the forest outside the park boundry is very nice and dispersed camping is excellent. Depending on where you are coming from, it is harder (or a longer drive I should say) to get to.
