River stewardship by removal of four dams on the Klamath in California and Oregon. It looks more-likely to happen now, according to this article:
Salazar: Dam removal will cost far less
Sounds like a good thing to me -- restoring salmon and steelhead runs while providing more/reliable water supply for Klamath Basin agriculture. The cost for removal will be borne by PacificCorp customers, who are paying a 2% surcharge on their (e.g., my) monthly bills; I'm willing to make that sacrifice.
"The secretary said he planned to make a final decision by March 2012 on how to proceed with the dam removal plan."
