Still in bed a little before dawn this morning I decided that it's probably good luck to be struck by the first sunlight of the new year...so I got up and out of my camper a few minutes before the sun rose over the hills at the east side of the Alvord.
Turns out I was right -- it is good luck!

I'm on my way east out of Austin, NV trying to find a place to camp before dark.
