This posting in the Gear Exchange section shows a FWC that appears to have access between the truck cab to the camper (other than through the cab window). Looks like a person could reasonably get to the camper from the truck cab - a really nice feature! Adding the truck seats to the interior area of the camper. Almost like a Class B van conversion but without the large profile of a van.

Blazer FWC

I expect this only works with a permanent attachment between the truck cab and camper.

Is this variation currently available from FWC or other pop ups? Or is it a bad idea, and why? (Other than losing the easy on-off option of a slide-in)

Thanks for any leads, ideas, voices of experience!

Totally a custom job especially as a Chevy Blazer is not a pickup truck, as you no doubt know. So it is not so much access from the truck "cab" as the camper is sitting in the back of the truck cabin.

Not so much custom but not sure they are made any more. they are bolt on and not slide in pop ups. I have seen for the chevy blazer, ford bronco and international scout. They do show up for sale every now and then.

I assume, unlike a slide-in, these are useless without the matching vehicle. You're not just buying the camper, you are also buying the Blazer. If the Blazer is worn out, your camper may cost more than you bargained for.

I wish fwc made a camper that would bolt onto my first generation 4runner. That would be a very capable rig!

when was the last time you saw a passenger vehicle (we call em SUV's now) that had a removable hard top? thats right, not since ford discontinued the BRONCO (i assume that was the last from my memory--which is foggy sometimes) so its not really cost effective for FWC camper to make a camper for what is now considered a borderline vintage vehicle.

we used to get all kinds of fun stuff like that, Blazer, Bronco, Scout, 4 runner even (gen 1). must have been some kind of safety thing--safety third i always say--ha

I agree - love the concept. The only one I'm aware of these days is the Jeep Wrangler. Phoenix pop-ups makes one to fit(last pic). I'd love to have one custom made for my LJ but not in the budget right now! Vic
