This topic is for folks to post their tips/suggestions/finds about bakeries, restaurants, stores in the West that have great pastries, cinnamon rolls, other baked goods and similar sweet treats.

Feel free to add a post in this thread directly.

Or if a separate thread or post on the subject is made elsewhere on WTW, I can make a link to that thread or post on this post.  Let me or another Site Team member know if you see another post/topic that deserves a link here.

Ideally for sources of sweet-treats/baked-goods -- especially if available to-go, and preferably not just a list of favorite restaurants in general -- "Favorite Western-Wandering Eateries" would be a good subject for another Topic.

Otis Cafe - Otis, Oregon
Heaven on Earth - I-5 near Azalea, Oregon

Excellent cinnamon rolls, both. Spectacular omelets in Otis.

Kiva Kofeehouse Hwy 12 by the Escalante Grand Staircase National Monument Utah.  Had some fine pastries when we stopped. Also a great view.

Schat's in Bishop. Chileno chili pepper cheese bread. Dangerous stuff. I'll also second Kiva as Bill mentioned.

Archangeli Grocery, a.k.a. Norms Market, in Pescadero, CA (between SF and Santa Cruz). Their artichoke garlic herb sourdough bread is to die for!

I never go by on hwy 1 without hitting Norms for a loaf to take home. Note the olallieberry scones are to die for.

Feed Barn Cafe in Silver Lake, Oregon (on OR 31 between Bend and Lakeview)

Some friends of mine stopped there yesterday on the way back from Summer Lake and raved about the desserts, pies.

One friend had Buttermilk pie, and recommended it.

I've been through Silver Lake more times than I can count but never saw anything that looked worth stopping for...I wonder if this place is under new management.  I probably shouldn't recommend a spot without trying it myself..but these friends are from the South and know pie.  ;)

I'll do a day-trip drive soon, this nice Oregon outback loop, and stop at the Feed Barn for dessert so I can speak from personal experience.

:)
