4 x4 capabilities with FWC camper

I have a 4x4 2006 Tundra with a Fleet. How will the extra weight of the camper effect my 4x4 capabilities? I know the extra height will make it a little more tippy on slanted roads, but if its just a straightforward 4x4 road that's rocky, rutted, a little steeper than normal roads, will the...

Device charging - 110v with inverter or 12v plug?

direct 12v was my thought also. Without knowing anything about electricity I thought the direct 12v might be more efficient because using the inverter, you are first powering the inverter before anything gets to the devise. But that's just an intuitive thought with no knowledge behind it.

Device charging - 110v with inverter or 12v plug?

I have a rechargable battery charger that has both a 110v plug and a 12v plug. I can use either. What are the advantages/disadvantages of using the 110v with an inverter vs just using the 12v plug - either in the camper or the truck cab. I guess this is really a generic question. If you...

Frayed wire on portable solar panel

yes, definitely a piece of plastic broke off that was holding the wire in place to keep it from moving around. I think that piece came off at some point and then it just stressed back and forth when I was not careful with it taking it in and out of truck. Anyway to fix this? I guess I could...

fabric sticks out after lowering top

larry - which way do you have the fan on - blowing air in or out, I assume out? with your description you have fully lowered the top before opening the door, is that possible because the fan is on?

fabric sticks out after lowering top

For many years I’ve always had a little of the pop-up material stick up on the passenger side front after lowering. No big deal to just slightly raise the roof and tuck it in. More recently I’ve been getting material all along the front and this is much more difficult to tuck-in. I always...

Frayed wire on portable solar panel

Went to use my portable solar panel and noticed I was not getting any additional charging. Checked the panel and noticed the wiring has frayed. Any way to fix this or is the panel toast? Sorry for the poor picture, but the wires coming out of the connection are broken and frayed. Looks like...

2012 Fleet in Gen 1 Tundra bed build-up question?

ah, didn't realize the beds were that different between access and double cab. No on the black skids, just the factory bottom of the camper.

2012 Fleet in Gen 1 Tundra bed build-up question?

I'm confused. I have an 06 Tundra with a 2012 Fleet and it just slips in. There is the extra space on the side but no bottom build-up necessary. Mine is an access cab, so don't know if that is different size from double cab. FWC did the install and just put bolts in the bed and it is...

Ultimate Flexible Solar Panels - successes and warranty replacements

I spent most of my time on this site a few years ago because of solar and flexible panel issues - what's the best, what are people doing, why the problems, etc. Once I put rigid panels on it saved me a lot of time just on forum/research related issues. Yea, flexible is lighter, but with roof...

Ultimate Flexible Solar Panels - successes and warranty replacements

strokeme - where did you get the truck/camper cover? do you have a link? I am one of the early adopters of flexible panels, went through 6 panels in about a year. This was when the recommendation was to glue them down - made an absolute mess of my top. Have had rigid panels for years now...

how to "winterize" but use regularly

this is what I got from FWC today. I have never touched this stuff so the factory installed it upside down. "Your filter is definitely on upside down for some reason. It can be loosened and rotated downward to fix that part. To winterize, remove the sink drain cap on the outside, turn on water...

how to "winterize" but use regularly

I appreciate the creative options... Attached is a picture of my plumbing - is the part to the right of the pump the filter? How do I "pull it" and put vodka in the filter cup? I'm pretty clueless here. Also attached is a picture of my drain spigot. First time I every tried to turn it, and...

how to "winterize" but use regularly

thanks Rando, my configuration is even simpler. Just the water tank and electric pump. No hot water or shower. So sounds like I just make sure everything is drained well. It does not get brutal cold here, usually 20's and 30's at night, a few days into teens. And almost always back to the...

how to "winterize" but use regularly

I just moved from southern Calif to Bishop. In so Cal I never had to worry about winterizing. Now that I am in Bishop where temps can dip into the teens, how do I winterize, yet have it available for weekend trips to Death Valley and other desert locations? I have a 2012 Fleet with factory...

Shell Owners- 12V fridge or nice ice cooler

The 2012 Fleet had one lower vent and one fan. FWC added a second high vent which I believe is now standard. I added two additional fans. Sometimes I get acceptable performance in low 90's, but when leaving southern California in the summer, drinks and a few other things are ok, I buy...

I have a Dometic in my 2012 Fleet with 200 w of solar. In temps of 70 - low 80's, this works fine. But on a 100 degree summer day, the fridge can not adequately cool to be safe for food, even while plugged-in sitting on my driveway.
