Has anyone had problems installing the "Columbia" struts. I am having a hard time getting the vertical distance on my 2012 Fleet and still allowing the strut to compress fully. I don't know if my roof is higher than some of the older models but it seems that the recommended "Columbia" struts...

If the inverter output is 12 volts you shouldn't have any problem with just bypassing the inverter and going straight to 12 volts. The only problem I can think of is if the speaker amp draw exceeds the 12 volt receptacle amp output rating (I doubt it does) in which case you could just wire it...

Go with the Finch if you can. It looks like the 2010 crewcab Dakota has a bed length of 5'4". So it would stick out the back 3 less inches then it does on my crewcab Colorado with a bed length of 5"1".
