    Ready to Order Cougar

Mike, Congrats on the Cougar! Good option package. My wife wanted the small window. Now I'm glad we got it. It's very handy for looking to the drivers side without all the noise of the velcro on the upper windows. We also like the closet. It may be small, but any storage space is good storage...

Why did you choose ATC over FWC

Why? We researched campers for a couple of years (RV shows, sportsman shows, FWC factory three times) and even went to Pendelton Oregon to get a used Alaskan camper to try truck camping before taking the plunge on a new one. I found ATC by pure luck. Driving by, I stopped to ask the price...

    Went Camping!

Mike, I have regular mirrors. I've tried the after-market tow mirrors but they vibrated too much and were too hokey. I removed the mechanical jacks to improve my rear vision. I leave the camper on the truck so it's no big deal, but if I didn't and had to mount the jacks each time I wanted to...

    Went Camping!

Just got back from a trip to Scotts Flat Lake. It is near Nevada City, approximately sixty-five miles from Sacramento. It's close enough for a nice weekend getaway and offers swimming, boat rentals, and fishing. (scottsflatlake.net) A couple of the pics show the new cargo rack/step on the...

Bug Screen for the front sliding window.

I've considered screening the sliding window. I thought I would have a screen made (~$20?) and velcro it to the frame. I played with the idea of using velcro to hang just the screen material, but it seemed pretty flimsy. I'll be interested how your idea works out.

    2" hitch cargo carrier

erod, I bought the one in the lower pic from 4 Wheel Parts. It's made by Lund. It doesn't fold. Mine has a 500 lbs capacity. The folder is more expensive and (I think) lower capacity. I'll post some pics when I get it modified. I've seen the step that goes over the tire. Check Camping World...

    2" hitch cargo carrier

jinlg, You may want to check with the CHP for distance restrictions from the vehicle body before you add anything. I've heard it's three feet, but check for sure. I just purchased one of these (the lower pic) with a bike carrier accessory that bolts on to carry three bikes. I'll post a pic...

    Option Regrets?

If you were to order another camper would you change your options list? When I order another camper I will ask to have the rear wall reinforced so I can mount a fuel/water can on the right and a hi lift jack on the left, if it doesn't interfere with the thing that holds the door open. I...

    Need some opinions

I have a '07 Cougar. It is 87" wide, including the jack brackets. I have standard mirrors, and with a small spot mirror on each side visibility is acceptable. With the jacks on I couldn't see squat, so they're in the shed. ( I leave the camper on the truck full time so it's no big deal.) I...

    07 Panther for sale

Another option is to use 4' X 8' sheets of foam insulation available at Home Depot or Lowes. It's light weight, very strong, supports the entire floor, and comes in various thicknesses. I had a 2" sheet under an Alaskan camper that weighed at least 1500 lbs. When I sold the camper the foam...

    Solar Panels

We have an 85 watt panel, charge controller, and an aux battery system on our ATC Cougar. Used it last week for three days (radio, lights, DVD) without running the engine, worked great. We got the 85 watt panel so we can recharge cameras, GPS, and laptop on longer trips using a small inverter...

HELP, What step combo do U use to enter & exit camper?

Steps I have the steps pictured in WarpathEngineering's post. In place, the top step is almost touching the bumper and is level with the indentation in the bumper where the license plate mounts, which almost doubles the surface area of the step. The only draw back is the lower step could...

    Picked up the Cougar!

Picked up the Cougar on Tuesday. Marty had the truck prepped and the camper ready to load on the truck in about three hours. He gave me some tips on loading it and tying it down, then Ben walked me thur the rest of it. We couldn't be happier with the camper. The fit and finish is excellent...
