Hi everyone, I am super stoked to have bough a 2010 Hawk! I just have a few questions for you guys:
- My truck is 2009 GMC Sierra crew cab with the 5'9" box. The Hawk fits in there great except for at the tailgate, there is a little notch there that would pinch the camper if you layed it flat in the bed. This made things pretty interesting ie stressful at the time of purchase, in a supermarket parking lot! We found a pallet and ripped of a couple boards to raise the back end of the camper so i could bring it home without damaging it. I am pretty sure that if i raise the Hawk up by about an inch I will have enough clearance, the other alternative is cutting a notch in the camper.... This option doesnt really thrill me as I dont want to cause any structural problems. What do you think is the best option?
- If I am using the camper off the truck, and i am using two sawhorses in combination with the jacks, is this enough support for two people?
I have heard from some people that the entire floor of the unit must be supported...
- My hawk is factory prepped for a solar panel. How do i go about screwing it into the roof?
- The camper also came with the factory luggage rack and a bar all the way at the front. I want to put two 9' 6" SUPs up there. The spread between the forward bar on the luggage rack and the front bar is way too much is think, 92". However the spread on the luggage rack is 30", do you think that with the proper rack ( a thule SUP taxi) i can put these two boards on the luggage rack? It means that they would stick out the back 3 feet or so...
Thanks for the help and I am looking forward to posting photos and stories of fly fishing adventures here in BC!
