Hello! New here, recommended to me by a friend.

I recently acquired a 2017 Northstar slide in for my 2018 tundra double cab 6.5” bed.

I was looking for advice for the mounting it. I’m a little tight on cash and weight, so I’m trying to figure out the best option.

At this point, I’m thinking that I’ll build a frame to loft the camper over the cab, and then I have drop in brophy mounts from the previous owner, but the back two align with the camper tie down points, which I know is not ideal. I also have a frame mount but it’s not for my truck. I’m concerned about the added weight of the platform and a frame mount on the payload of my truck, plus me and a dog and gear, we’re getting too close for comfort.

Just looking for some advice as I try to figure out how best to rig it up. Pics included from when I hauled it back to my house with ratchet straps

Hi and welcome to Wander the West.

I’m not a fan of Brophy Mounts, but they might be ok on a popup. If it were my camper, I would go with TorkLift frame mount tie downs, with FastGuns or chain and turnbuckles to secure things. By removing your jacks, you’re going to lose 90-100 pounds to offset the tie downs.

Have you talked to a dealer that sells NorthStar about what they recommend for your truck?

Thank you! I was hoping to be able to take the camper off while I’m on the road, but it might be worth removing the jacks to save the weight.

I tried working with a couple RV dealers in town, but they weren’t familiar with slide in campers (I live in Chattanooga TN). But that is great advice so I’ll start making some calls, thank you!
