hello. i would appreciate any input on this. curious if 1x1 doug fir would be ok for two roof rack crossbars. i am carrying no more than 100-200 lbs. thank you.
If they’re flush against the roof, possibly. If they’re raised off the roof, I wouldn’t consider it. Neither would be my first choice.hello. i would appreciate any input on this. curious if 1x1 doug fir would be ok for two roof rack crossbars. i am carrying no more than 100-200 lbs. thank you.
are you saying use t track as the cossbar? would 3/8 inch bolts rattle loose? i found this version which may work. POWERTEC 48 in. Heavy-Duty Aluminum T-Track Specialized T Slot Track for 3/8 in. Hex Bolt and T Bolts 1/4 in.-20 and 5/16 in.-18 71379 - The Home DepotI use T-slot from Lee Valley - https://www.leevalley.com/en-ca/sho...bzi5qQTeHlK1NG0VRueg7j3zq38t_QYLc1lIEZTNfVO0d
Strong, and mostly compatible with Yakima and Thule
Should the bolt going thru tube go through both layers of aluminum or can it go through the layer against foot. id like surface of crossbar extending over foot to be flushHoles can be sealed. I use butyl rubber tape for that. The t slot makes a nice strong base, with the butyl and a screw ever foot or so, the track is solid. 1" alum square tube makes great crossbars
