Riley's Human
Finally got a weekend off. So I decide to head up 88 to caples lake. I go up highway 50 to the mormon emigrant trail. All goes well. I decide to take the dirt road up to the Leek springs hill lookout. All goes well. Lots of snow on the ground. I decide to continue on (the dirt road connects to highway 88) and even though its downhill theres patches of snow I have to drive through.
I should mention I got a late start and its in the afternoon and the snow is all slushy. But I can see where fallen trees have been cut. Obviously people have been down the road right? Finally get to one patch that I promptly get stuck in. Did I mention I was in a hurry to leave the house and forgot my shovel? I dig with the dog bowl, sticks, whatever I can find. Its not going anywhere. I air way down. Still no go. I keep digging, toss a bunch of rocks, and decide I may as well camp and see what happens in the morning when the snow freezes.
Eat a nice steak and go to bed. In the morning she drives right out, easy as pie. But now I have really low tires and no air compressor. Well I shouldn't see much traffic on the highway and its only ten miles to kirkwood where I can air up. Drives like a slug with low tires but I make it and get aired up. On to Caples lake. Decide to continue on and see if I can find a little lake up the side of the mountain I'd find while out Jeeping a few years back. Its on the map but theres not a single road sign. Low and behold my memory holds out and I find it.
Other than finding out my coffee pot is a pos the rest of the trip was uneventful. Oh, I need to read the manual on camera, half my pictures didnt' turn out. Too much light. Need to see what setting I had wrong.
First pic is desolation wilderness in the background. One pic has a deer in it. Hard to see but the old dog did. Thought he was going to jump out.
