I've seen a few other posts on this but the technology changes so fast. Have 07 Taco with no prexisting backup cam and ATC Bobcat camper. Also have bike rack on back of truck so license plate mount wont work.
Have seen some upgrade radios on Amazon with wired back up camera but will need to mount cam up a bit on the camper to get a clear view. (Not finding clear specs on length of RCA cable)
Wireless cams are attractive, Ive seen mixed reviews relating to connectivity on these. Any one have experience with these? And their battery life when on a long trip? Mounting into/onto camper frame?

Thanks in advance.

Wireless used to be not so good (i.e., bad signals) but that may have changed. Certainly MUCH easier than trying to run wires to the back of the camper, and figure out how to disconnect them when dismounting the camper). I just did that on my rig... hard, not impossible.

I was gifted a furrion vision S. When it worked it was great. Connectivity was a bit of an issue (establishing the connection) but once connected it was flawless and had excellent picture quality. Randomly cut out after about a year ( I had it on a roach coach, I'm sure the heat didn't help it) and I never bothered to replace it, I'd recommend it though.

In my "perfect" world, I'd get a wireless backup camera that integrates into a) my display or b) into a homelink mirror. I've not found that combo and I suspect there's one out there but probably way more than I want to spend.

I'd want the wireless camera to potentially attach to the window in the back of my flatbed to get it high enough to provide a clear view (like the other poster with bikes, etc. on the hitch).

I want to do a write up on my install at some point, but I have a double din aftermarket head unit for music/nav and such in the truck. My rear-view mirror is an Auto-Vox dash cam with the rear view cam always on and acting as my "mirror" since I no longer have a window in my camper... no way to see "through" it using the regular mirror. That works ok, but I find most aftermarket cameras go for a super wide angle view, which is great for backing into tight spaces, but throws your perspective way off, with the "rear view" showing vehicle to appear much further away than they are! So, I added a dual camera system to the double din head unit. These are nice HD cameras, one with a 45* angle view (great for just driving down the road) and the other with the 170* view which i have pointed down at the rear of the rig to make parking in tight spaces much easier to do.

This is the camera I ended up using - Stainless Steel Bracket Anti Corrosion Rv Double Lens Box Camera,120 Degree For Rear Observation,45 Degree Angle For Reversing - Buy Double Lens Box Camera,Black Twin Lens Camera,Dual Lens Reverse Camera Product on Alibaba.com
but it was the wonderful folks at ParkingCameras.com that put me onto it.
