Alternative materials for benches and possibly floor?

I unfortunately damaged the rug on the passenger side bench drilling and left an ugly bare mark. It’s nothing terrible but it’s giving me an opportunity to maybe put in a different material to alleviate. Has anyone replaced this rug with a different material? I’m primarily considering cork, and I think I have a good source. Was also thinking about putting cork down for the floor as well.

I just replaced the rug itself, and it was a (insert profanity here) to get the staples out. If you replace the rug with another, do yourself a favor and buy a pneumatic stapler for wire staples. I believe I used 18 gauge.

Just for a nicer look and easier to keep clean.I added ckick-lock flooring.
Looks good with the interior wood and a lot cleaner.
