Another electrical topic

Hi WTW, sorry to add another electrical topic. I'm getting a Hawk Shell soon which will have essentially nothing electrical apart from the truck system connected to the lights and an AC with nowhere to plug in. I plan to use a Honda 2000 Generator or Shore power often.

My intended electrical uses:
1. Portable fridge
2. Air conditioner
3. Small electronics charging

What it needs:
1. Battery with isolator or just a an isolating switch will be fine
2. 120V outlets
3. USB/12V outlets
4. Shore power/generator inlet
5. Location for above stuff, ex. driver side where this stuff connects or passenger side where AC is.
6. Battery charger
7. Fuses and other electronic things

I have founds some beautiful builds on the site, FWC, van builds, etc but it is beyond my knowledge base at this point. Where can I find out what to buy and how to build it? Want to build it right the first time with clean install and not burn it down. It is too expensive to half-way it and have extension cords and splitters floating around. Please help. There may be a ready made thread already but my search terms were wrong.

My first read thoughts:

I don't see interior lights listed? For those you'll need 12VDC, but you can run LED's to keep your demands down. I wouldn't want 120VAC in the roof. A failure of the wiring getting it there is a lot more calamitous than such a failure in 12VDC. The finer the wire stranding, the better it will flex.

Sounds like you'll want a small 12VDC system with a smart charger.

Can buy a 2 port USB charging port with the same form factor as a 12VDC "power port" from Blue Seas (West Marine carries them). No step-down required, feed it 12VDC and it outputs the USB's 5VDC.

I'd look at shore power connections for boats for your 120VAC connection.

Reading between the lines I'm thinking that solar may not be cost effective or of much value to you.

You'll need a power distribution center with breakers or fuses. I'd again look at marine stuff.

From my personal experience, unless you have a pretty wimpy air conditioner, the Honda 2000 won't do the job. Just not enough amperage output, even at the highest RPM's.

You can get the "companion" Honda 2000 (a special unit) and link it together with your existing Honda 2000 (have you already purchased it?) and that will work, that's what I did.

Or, you can get the Honda 3000 (if you don't already have the regular Honda 2000) and that will also work, although when I borrowed one of these from a friend I found that the RPM's are higher than the two linked together 2000's, thus more noise.

Check how many amps your air conditioner needs, that will tell you how much generator you need.

Thanks gents. It is a new model so should be all LED already. The AC is the one installed in the back by FWC and they assure me the 2000 is adequate. It is necessary in the humid Southeast. The generator will only be used to run the AC and charge the battery a little. This thing looks sharp:
