Hey all,
I've been lurking around and absorbing all of the valuable info here for quite some time. I've been wanting to purhcase a used FWC for a long time but was in a new vehicle transition and wasn't sure what I was going to buy. Well, I sold my 1997 GMC Sierra and purchased a new to me 2006 Tundra Double Cab and thanks to this great forum I know that I need a 2001 1/2 or newer HAWK model. I've seen a couple of members with the same rig as mine so here's my question to any of them or Stan/Ben:
Since I will be on the do it yourself program as far as the install goes, where exactly do I place the eye bolts in my bed to mount the camper? Are there exact measurements that they use at the factory? Specific eye bolt/turnbuckle sizes? I figure I may as well get the rig prepped so when I find one I will be ready to roll as there will likley be a road trip involved to get it :D Anyway, thanks in advance...any info you folks can provide would be most appreciated.

SunMan,

Welcome aboard. I'm sure Ben or Stan will be able to help you with the technical information. Congrats on the new truck, should be a great rig.

Hello SunMan

Just call me when you fine a used camper.

The eye bolt locations have changed over the years.

With a little information on the camper, I might be able to get you the measurements off hand.

Worst case I will have you measure where the eye bolts are located on the camper you find, and we can walk you through it from there.

It is pretty easy. I have updated most of the install instructions over the years with more information and better pictures, so you should have no problem on your own if you have some basic mech. ability.

Our toll free # is 800-242-1442

Look forward to helping if I can !

Thanks for the welcome DLN and for the quick response Stan. Didn't realize eye bolt positions vary from year to year. Guess I shouldn't be putting the cart before the horse! Getting a little too anxious I guess.

Stan pretty much covered it for you. I am sure he has some good pictures on the install too. Good luck on finding a camper for you new truck. Hope it isn't too long a wait. Looking forward to hearing what you find.

Thanks Ben, you all will be the first to know when I locate one. I was hoping to score one before leaving for Baja on the 29th, but its looking like the ole camper shell/carpet kit program will have to work for a little while longer!

Bienvenidos Amigo!

This pool is nice, glad you jumped in SunMan!!

A warm welcome fellow Oxnardian!!

We gotta get the other four pop up enthusiasts in our square mile to join. We'd be a force to reckon with!!
