We are FWC Hawk "wannabes", but live in southern Indiana, and would love to see one up close and personal without traveling a full day to Wisconsin. Do any of you know of someone who lives in the area? We'd ideally like to purchase a used base Hawk shell to keep the weight down as we will be towing a boat as well...with a 2013 Chevy Silverado (1/2 ton). Info on experience towing a boat behind one would also be appreciated. Thanks!

I have a similar rig to your suggested setup (2010 Silverado 1/2 ton 4x4 with an ATC Ocelot shell). Your glove box should have a label stating max cargo capacity (approx. 1600 lbs.) Add people weight, camper weight, and tongue weight of trailer to see if you are under or over the limit. By moving gear to the boat trailer, it may be easier to stay within the limit.

I have hauled small utility trailers without noticing any difference (up to 1500 lbs.). However, when towing my 4100 lbs. boat and trailer (with equalizers and electric brakes), it is very noticeable. Without the camper and the same boat and trailer, the vehicle travels about the same as with just the camper. Mileage is worse while towing versus just with the camper.

Unfortunately, I'm much further than Wisconsin, or you'd be more than welcome to see my setup.
