Anyone ever considered using boat transom tie downs?

I was looking at my buddy's 22' aluminum sled and noticed the transom tie downs he was using. I have an aftermarket fab bumper with two shackle tow points and was thinking the straps may work well as a camper tie down. They seem plenty strong and the camper would also be secured in the front. What think you all?

OK here's an idea. Using an "endless loop ratchet strap" with no hooks.

Run the strap end through the eye bolt in the truck bed and then through the eye bolt on the camper. Now run it into the racheting devise. Crank it down and go. Just an idea but it might work.

That might work but I think I like the idea of the hooks. That way you can get wider webbing. Some of the ones I saw online were 2000 lbs. break strength. I am liking this idea the more I think about it. These are the shackle points I was referring to. Not my truck but the same bumper.

The problem with hooks on the inside attachments is they take up so much room theres no room for the ratchet.

Not sure I know what you mean. You mean the ones in the bed for the front of the camper?

You'll want hooks, shackles, or something similar with the shackle tabs on a bumper. Running the bare strap thru those sharp hole edges will cut the straps rather fast.
I'd be more concerned with if there is sufficient structure in the aft wall of the camper to take the localized load of the transom tie-downs.
