After some more research I agree. I guess the idea behind the corner anchors is that it pulls in every direction so it can't shift on any axis. With a centered mount it looks like it could shift side to side.A single point anchor on each side of the camper seems risky to me.
What are your thoughts on using the factory tie downs in the corners of the bed? Would they be strong enough? I kinda figure if the steak pockets can do it those rings can as well.I’m pretty happy with using Tork Lift external frame mounts and tie downs, with Fast Guns. I do use eye bolts that are connected through the bottom hole of the jack mounts. I don’t take the F350 into gnarly tight places, so they aren’t likely to hang up on any obstacles.
Knowing the tundra it's probably much lower. I ended up going with tork-lift frame mounts and I'm very satisfied with them. The owners manual for my GMC 3500 hd says its cargo tiedowns are limited to 500 lbs tension per corner of the bed (three attachments at different heights in each corner). It says the bed walls will collapse in if the attachments are overloaded. The truck has a fairly thick steel bed. I suspect other trucks have similar limits, and maybe lower limits on aluminum bed trucks.
If you’re not going into tight country, it’s hard to beat the Tork Lift mounts.Knowing the tundra it's probably much lower. I ended up going with tork-lift frame mounts and I'm very satisfied with them.
