Mr. Idea
We traveled to baja from pnw in feb/mar. This is our second trip. First trip was with my 15-gmc and ATC. this year it was with our van. our general itinerary:
pdx - winnemucca, henderson, phoenix, San Felipe, guerro negro, playa requeson, ligui, los barilles (days), magdalena bay (whales),Loreto, playa esmeralda (pacific side), san felipe, and out
loreto - we rented a casita for a day out of the van, showers, etc.
ligui, on sea of cortez. had to use 4wd on the side on this beach. beautiful place. in the morning a mother and small whale were out in the distance jumping around.
playa esmeralda, pacific side. from this camp there was almost 2 miles of white sand beach with nobody around. camped within a few feet of the surf. the owners of the beach palapas made dinner for us 3 nightrs in a row. great food, and company.. even had some lobster.
huge sea bass
we hiked up the coast a couple times and checked out the tide pools and rock flows. the last day we hiked up to the top, and dodged cactus along the way. coming down we had to scramble, and helen had a cactus engagement which drew a LOT of blood...
saw my first full whale breach down in los barilles while having breakfast on the beach. it was amazing.
we enjoyed great food, met a lot of very nice people. looking forward to returning.
only problem, its a drive to just get there
