Blood Moon Photography

Well rats! I got the tripod out, the camera mounted, iso set, aperture set... ready to go.

Later I realized that an additional 5,000 feet of mountain behind me makes moonset a little earlier than in the flatlands. It was a great moon, but the peaks blocked me from seeing the eclipse. Just rats!

I didn't get any photos but when I checked about 3:50ish the shadow was visible
and a small crescent of the moon off to the west.
I checked a while later and the fog had started to get thicker.
As it was there was a light haze through most of the beginning of the eclipse.

The one I always compare to was back in the late 80s beautiful brick red and no fog.

Well there's always next year.

Isn't there a PhotoPills feature to help you discover that in advance?

Paul

There is, but I didn’t want to be out and about that early in the morning.

Yes, I need a nap.
