First time posting, haven’t seen this exact question asked so if it has just let me know.

I have a 2007 Outfitter Caribou that is around 1100 lbs give/take that I bought a few months back. Shortly after buying the camper, I swapped my Tacoma out for a 2021 Silverado 1500 Trail Boss and started the process of installing mounts. Well I installed a set of Torklift mounts for the front but the rears don’t fit the trail boss dual exhaust (apparently it’s a different exhaust setup than a standard 1500). Looks like my only option is the Brophy mount, which based on everything I’ve read is not a reliable option for newer trucks.

Has anyone ever used or hear of anyone using a combo of Torklift and Brophy mounts? I feel better having front torklift mounts but I live in the Rockies and will be driving on a lot of bumpy FS roads to say the least. With a kid in the back I just want to be extra safe and secure.

Much appreciated.

First… welcome to WTW. When you get a chance, we’d love to see camper pictures.

I like the TorkLift tie downs, and that is what I use for front and rear. The Brophy tie downs, with which I have no experience, give me a nervous twitch. Have you talked to Tork Lift? Could there be a way to customize the T L mounts for your truck?

The Brophy tie downs might be just fine, but I think I’d first try turnbuckles.

Again, no experience with Brophy, so my option might not hold water.

Thanks for your input. Here is a picture of my rig:

I agree re: the Brophys - I just don’t really feel comfortable with their concept. But perhaps it’s not a huge issue if I feel real comfortable with the front torklifts and am only using the Brophys on the rear. Maybe could even install another set of eye hooks on the rear and attach turnbuckles to the bed D rings as an extra piece of mind.
