And our selection -

Reason for our choice - We like wood, the compact size, they are comfortable, small independent company, parts readily available, and they were the chairs Julie really wanted with their classic design. They will stay assembled and folded to go in the camper. Folded, they slide right into a pillow case for protection. Bonus, I'm a skilled woodworker and I can do modifications and repairs if necessary. Additional bonus - no way part of the decision - the oak matches the interior of our camper.

We have had really good luck with Cascade Mountain chairs...for substantially less $

🏆 Happy Birthday 🏆

Yes, let's go down this road again. For 15 years Julie & I have been very pleased with these simple folding chairs from REI. They cost $50 a piece.

In 15 years we've gone through 3 pairs of these chairs. They were discontinued years ago. We saved the best of the older chairs when we replaced with new. A good source of replacement parts - like I used yesterday to repair the current pair. REI started carrying a newer similar chair but it is inches wider - too wide. Also, a couple of the features we liked, like the sliding pillow/backrest, are gone.

We like simple, low to the ground. Reclining could be a plus for night skies.

Suggestions?
We love the Kelty low couch or really any of the kelty chairs. They’re steel tube so longer lasting. Our last couch lasted around 15 years…and we camp ALOT.

I've been looking for something that my friend can't destroy immediately. He can bulk up to 280lb and looks like a linebacker. He has broken all of my chairs and his own. They usually fail at the plastic hardware on the folding type.

The strongback looks interesting with a 3 year warranty.

It just hit me Monte you have Kermits. I have had for 40 years... bought in Tenn. way back ...great family business in the holler. They are so comfortable and great for motorcycle camping to0. Getting older I bought the leg extensions and man oh man they are greatly appreciated ...easy to get out of and easy to take off. So the chair can be short or standard. They will outlive me!

Monte ... I was going through some of our travels...Labrador.... and here are those chair extensions.

I think you’ve just started a meme, and new thread here on WTW…

Kermits in the Wild!
…and it needs a theme song, sung to the tune of Riders on the Storm.

Did you go with the regular width or the widest?

hi monte. i understand your appreciation of the wood chairs.
i have been working on a wood folding table that you guys might like. still a work in progress, but i think it is right down your alley.
its 19" tall, so maybe a bit high for you and julie in the kermits. but this is a prototype, and is the right height for me in my aluminum folding chair.
for one reason or another its not folding totally flat.... but it is a prototype and first cut.
dont look too close. no finish sanding yet, as i have been working on another pressing project.
oh, and its very light, so your truck and ATC will be able to handle this no problem.
go
