Purty neat trip, except for tryin’ to kill yer self, plus the Bubbas. Neither of whom seemed to be good neighbors.

VOF Site 1 is my favorite, you see a lot of traffic, but it’s got space from other camps, and it’s close to the bighorns.

Thanks for letting us tag along!

Beautiful landscapes, thanks for sharing. Always a good reminder that it is pretty easy to get away from the noise and the hordes of bubbas with a good hike. It seems that the correlation between generator and tv people and hikers is pretty low, thankfully.

I believe those tours are still available, but limited offerings.

I don't know about nowadays, but in the late 1990s and until 2001 they were groups of I believe 50 bussed to Little Petroglyph Canyon arranged through Maturango Museum. Tours were fairly limited then, requiring reservations well in advance. After 9/11, tours stopped for quite a while, then resumed on a more limited basis.

My two visits were with a group of a dozen, led by a workmate who was a steward. We drove our own vehicles (carpooling) spent hours poking around and went farther down the canyon to the large dry falls. Each time, we were the only people there.

About Coso Petroglyphs
The article concludes with, "We hope that access will once more be available in the future."

Mr. Sage Recon, we've not been on a tour to Little Petroglyph Canyon, but we have visited the sites with Coso style petroglyphs on public land outside the NAS boundary.
