Very nice mountains and lakes. Beautiful.

Campgrounds, especially concessaire run, sure have gotten expensive in the past year. Add to that really rude concessionaire hosts and I never want to stay in a campground again. (ok I didn't ever want to stay in one in the first place). We mainly end up in them while fishing and towing the boat. It's nearly enough to just give up camping at lakes with the boat after this year's experiences.

Yes, it's sad that we now think of a campground as a necessary evil. Our second night at Convict Lake was.....................lets just let it fade into a distant memory.

Thanks for the dose of aspen in part 3. We didn't get enough this fall before we became stranded at home waiting on truck repairs.

We were stopped so many times in awe of our surroundings.
That is like the understatement of the year!! We have mountains in Arizona, but I'm not sure of any like that.

I used to see in the grove just below Heenan on 89.

Thanks rubberlegs, yes it was a great time. It hurts to be sitting here now and not on the trail. But we can manage nice day hikes here at home also. I apologize in advance that there will only be brown boots the next few years.

Glad you have been out and about - to say the least! Gorgeous colors and the bedding layers up Convict Creek are incredible! Have hiked around the lake years ago but not up. will have to try that. Glad you also found some peace and quiet amidst all the noise and crowds. I envy you having a boot manufacturer that you can fit right off. I have so many pairs of boots that never quite fit. Wearing flip flops too much has let me toes spread and getting a wide enough boot with a very narrow heel is not easy.
