Childs is an interesting author.

I love most science fiction books. I have been getting a lot of inexpensive and free books from BookBub - They are an email list and many times I can get the books for free.

My latest book is "Mists of Time" by D. Ward Cornell - its an ok book. I think the author has better series but this one works for camping.

There is a new book about communication among plants. The title is The Light Eaters: how the unseen world of plant intelligence offers a new understanding of life on earth, by Zoe Schlange, published this year, 2024. This is her first book, I think she was a mainstream journalist covering the environment and science for several major publications previously.
In the book, she ranges all over the world talking with and visiting major contemporary scholars and botanists doing cutting edge research on plants. It starts kind of slow, but once she gets started it keeps your interest.
