So I’m brain storming my lifting panels for my 89 fleet model FWC it’s got old wood ones and I’ve contacted FWC but for 2 it’ll be around $1,100 for them. I’m trying to find a cheaper solution I can do myself. What has everyone done? Pictures and links or anything is greatly appreciated

If the spring hinges in your old lift panels are still free and not seized by rust, it is pretty easy to buy some marine ply and rebuild them. Just a lot of labor. I have rebuilt several panels for 80s FWCs.

Support your roof, remove the screws holding in the bottom of the panels, drill out the rivets holding the top of the panel to the roof, drill out the rivets holding the hinges to the panels, use your old panels as templates for the new panels, cut them out, and rivet them all back together. A pneumatic riveter is money well spent for this job.
